A Parent’s Poem
A parent from our programs wanted to share a word of gratitude to Gum Moon’s Staff:
Thank Goodness for Gum Moon
Thank goodness for Gum Moon
Children at Gum Moon are like saplings
We follow our Teachers guidance and
Everyone laughs together
Thank you teachers for your diligent service
Our Director Gloria leads and supports us on all fronts
Ms. Lucy and Montira quietly lay the groundwork while
Yunyi and Jenny smile as parents gather at Support Salon Groups
Teacher Michelle instructs us to properly hold a pencil
Teacher Vicky assiduously cuts and prepares paper crafts
Parents and Children learn the hard lesson of Separation
We can hear the sound of children crying as we grow together
At the tender age of two, we perform at the Christmas pageant
Three generations perform together to welcome the Lunar New Year
During Easter, we have a field trip with an egg hunt
Grandmas pass down their recipes and skills in the kitchen
All parents attend the Triple P classes
Parent leaders write the grant proposal
We benefit as we learn about nutrition through HEAL programs
Behind the scenes, faculty, staff and volunteers make this magic happen
(Lillian, Vivian, Eliza, Mr. Su, Heidi, Piano Teacher…)
Teacher Rhoda teaches nursery rhymes
All the while we grow smarter and taller
Teacher Lucy and Teacher May don’t miss a beat and back up where needed
All the while we enjoy great parent-child bonding activities
As our world seems to come to a sudden stop
Jobs are uncertain and children cannot attend school
We are fortunate Gum Moon extends a warm hand to us
To guide and support us through times of trial
Thank you teachers for your persevering service
We are able to continue school with Zoom
Moo Moo’s Mother also teaches us now
We reminisce and miss Mr. Su’s lunar New Year firecrackers
With Gum Moon’s constant support, we are able to navigate onwards
Regardless of any virus or other mundane and worldly issues
By listening heart to heart, we join hands wherever we may be
We hope and work towards a brighter tomorrow
