During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are meeting the needs of our participants and supporting our community virtually in various ways, including: parent child development groups, parenting support and education groups, after summer tutoring, weekend children art class, individualized piano class, wellness check-ins, individualized case management and advocacy, and providing resources to families to stay connected and shelter with care.

Our headquarter building in Chinatown remains open during Shelter In Place as we continue to provide housing for those in need.

Founded in 1868, Gum Moon Residence Hall & The Asian Women’s Resource Center were established to address the unmet needs of women and children in geographic and social transition. Located in the heart of Chinatown, Gum Moon originally served women & children from the Chinatown community, but has since helped women of all cultural and ethnic backgrounds. 

Throughout the years, Gum Moon’s services & history has adapted to the ever changing needs of the Asian Immigrant Community of the San Francisco Bay Area. Today, there are women of all backgrounds living in the Residence Hall, where they participate in various programs to learn professional & general life skills.

We provide a safe, affordable haven for single women in transition. The residence hall is home to single and double occupancy rooms available for rent at a discounted rate, on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.

Enrichment Programs

In addition to housing, Gum Moon also provides enrichment programs to women and children. These include parent-child interactive groups, summer school for elementary school children, art classes, piano classes, and more.
